NEW BUSINESS PROGRAM AIMS TO DOUBLE THE SIZE OF MICROTECH STAFFING GROUP OF QUINCY
6/24/2009
Microtech Staffing Group of Quincy has announced a new program that its owner predicts will shake up the $100 billion staffing industry and double the size of his company within one year Joseph Donahue of Hingham, a 26-year staffing industry veteran, has launched the Microtech Business Owner Program that offers experienced staffing professionals the opportunity to open their own businesses under the Microtech umbrella without the risk and expense of franchise opportunities offered by the nation's largest staffing firms The Business Owner Program, which was launched as a pilot program last year, has already attracted staffing professionals who have opened offices in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Georgia, New York, New Hampshire, Virginia and North Carolina With today's public announcement touting the new program and his personal investment in this program of up to $3 million, Donahue expects to open 12 new businesses (approximately one business per month over the next 12 months) to add to the 15 companies currently operating under the auspices of Microtech Staffing Group "This program is a case of David taking on Goliath," said Donahue, who opened Microtech in 1985 in the basement of his mother's home and turned it into the second largest privately owned staffing firm in New England "We have created an expansion model that is attracting professionals interested in running their own businesses, but who don't have the $180,000 to open a franchise with one of the national staffing firms" said Donahue "We started out seeking candidates quietly, but the response from veteran staffing professionals has been so overwhelming that we decided to announce the program publicly today I am so confident in my business model that I am investing up to $3million to make this plan work"" Under the Microtech Business Owner Program, Microtech provides the funding, training and support to enable professionals to open their own businesses throughout the country These businesses specialize in areas ranging from IT, Accounting/Finance, Administration, Engineering, Light Industrial and Bio/Life Sciences With no up-front fees or franchise investment, experienced staffing professionals with a proven track record can receive the financial, operational, payroll-funding, back- office support and ongoing training they need to open the office and succeed With new office earnings expected to reach between $2-3 million by the third year, the investment is eventually recouped by Microtech, while the business owners receive ongoing training and support to help them continue to grow "I have always had the desire to open my own business, and after 19 years at large staffing firms, I was at the point in my life where I didn't want to work for another large firm again," said Keith Anderson, who recently opened Sigma Staffing in Atlanta through the Microtech Business Owner Program "Microtech provided the financial, moral and operational support I needed to make the transition At this stage in my life I could not have opened my own business without this program, as the risk and the financial obligations were too great" Added Shane Hill, who opened Org-Chart Solutions in Raleigh after working for 16 years in the staffing industry, "I was attracted by the excellent corporate structure that Joe Donahue has in place that would enable me to be an entrepreneur He is a person who knows the business inside and out and who has succeeded in every aspect of his career When I met him I knew this opportunity was meant for me" Donahue says he has enjoyed attracting many of the industry's top professionals through his program, which is the fist of its kind in the industry "People who are entrepreneurial will succeed if given the opportunity to do so," said Donahue "This plan provides them with the opportunity to increase personal income levels and build equity in their own company while reshaping the industry in favor of the little guy over the big firms"
