Job Hunting 101: the Resume

  • A resume is a summary of your experience and skills that relate to the job you are looking to acquire
  • It accents personal accomplishments to show a potential employer what you have to offer
  • Don't make it a biography of your entire life
  • Remember you are using this to get an interview
  • If you can, include more than just your paid work experience Mention volunteer and leadership experiences, for example, if applicable
  • You should tailor each resume to each career field you are applying to
  • Try to find resume workshops or someone who could critique your resume before you submit it
