Mergers and acquisitions were building larger, impersonal firms. Chief financial officers were becoming more involved in business development. Owners were caring only about their bottom line margin and public companies were doing whatever necessary to reach 20 percent annual returns. Slowly we were losing sight of the two most important elements of staffing: understanding the needs of the client and knowing the contract employee.
